Kay Theunissen has practiced primarily in the areas of maritime, oilfield, governmental and insurance litigation since 1987. Kay’s practice has included the representation of various oilfield service and related companies in personal injury, contract review, property damage, well control, environmental damage, indemnity, insurance, and commercial disputes.

She has represented local and parish government entities throughout South Louisiana in civil rights, personal injury, property damage and constitutional challenges. In addition, she has a diverse general insurance defense practice including personal injury, product liability, and transportation litigation. She has more than 31 years of trial and appellate experience before state and federal courts in Louisiana and Texas. Kay earned both her Bachelor’s degree in General Business in 1983 and her Juris Doctor in 1986 from Louisiana State University, serving on the Louisiana State University Law Review and graduating Order of the Coif. She served as a law clerk for the Honorable James L. Dennis, Louisiana Supreme Court from 1986-1987.
